Stardate 07/30/2005 (I believe in the god of theatre-Does that count?)

You are agnostic

You're not sure if God exists, and you don't care.
For you, there's no true way to figure out the divine.
You rather focus on what you can control - your own life.
And you tend to resent when others "sell" religion to you.

These little tests are right on...First the peach pie thing and now this! Who knew?

Stardate 07/29/2005 (Ahhh...Friday!)

Happy Friday everyone! Posted by Picasa

I love Fridays. My favorite part is at 5:01pm when you walk out the door of work knowing that you won't be back for two whole days!! It's not that I don't like work. I just like not being at work more.

As to the issue of Scott's search for new employment: He flies out to Kennewick on Aug. 18th. If by that time Everett has decided to ask him for a face to face interview he will rent a car and drive to Everett that same weekend. After interviewing with Kennewick, he is now under the impression he might be the only candidate for that job! Everett told him he is one of three finalists. They only want to fly up two so after his phone interview next week then they will decide if they want to meet him in person.

The antici........pation is killing us. He's a nervous wreck. I'm going crazy too. I can't begin even searching for a job until we know for sure where we are off to.

Anyway- We are going to Santa Cruz tomorrow so that will help break the tension a bit. I have been given free tickets to see Two Gentlemen of Verona! I guess these tickets were high priced and not to be parted with lightly. There are advantages to being well connected I suppose.

I am off to rehearsal now.

Happy Friday to all!

That's a very good sign!! Which Herald will it be?? Will he get an offer?? Maybe two?? Who knows??? Keep your fingers crossed!

Stardate 07/25/2005 (Pins and needles)

The Clock Posted by Picasa

The waiting game has begun. Scott and I were anxious all weekend...Speculating if "they" would call this week. Every hour that ticks by carries with it the potential promise of change. At any moment there could be an e-mail or better yet a call...Our lives now hang in the balance of these moments...One lucky newspaper could give a gift as great as they will receive... Scott called me less than a minute ago...A moment has happened...A moment that contains more potential for greatness than the ones preceding...He has an interview...Now the moments tick on...Moving towards perhaps a even greater moment...We hold our breath...Waiting anxiously until that next moment...The clock on the wall behind me marks each second with a rhythm that can not be changed by our impatience...Tick...Tick...Tick...And the beat goes on.

Per request I am posting a new day on my blog. What can I say my public has spoken and I have heard.
Let's see-Well I suppose an explanation as to my absence is in order.
On Monday Scott and I drove to Sonora to relive the gory, I mean glory, days. We went to our favorite spot for burgers and partook in a coffee at the local Ye Olde Starbucks. (God-They are everywhere) We also saw War of the Worlds while in town. Hey, why not? It's better than fighting the crowds of gangstas here for a seat. We,of course, ran into a few friends throughout the day. Relived more memories and well in general had a very Sonorian experience. It was a nice little date. Sort of an homage to our beginnings.
Yesterday and today was tiring and hectic return to life in Merced. Today I got up at 6:15am. I was out the door at 7:30am...Leaving just enough time to grab a bagel and clock in at exactly 8am... I worked for six hours straight (with only a 20 minute break for "lunch" which consisted of another bagel and a carton of soy milk)...Left work at 3:30pm...Had less than 15 minutes to drive home, change, grab my sword and note book and drive across town to my 4pm Production Meeting...At 5:15pm the meeting ended (Thank GOD!! It was a bad one. The costumer quit right in the middle of the meeting!) and I went to my Sword fighting rehearsal...It's 104 degrees outside and I'm swinging a sword around, leaping back and forth like I'm friggin' Inigo Montoya preparing to kill the six finger man...Oh-Did I mention these rehearsals take place OUTSIDE for forty five minutes-No Break!-Don't get me wrong though...I love it!! So I get to the gym at 6:15pm and have a nice (short) thirty minute workout...I figured after the day I had I could use a small break...Right? I got to the newspaper at about 6:50pm...Just in time to find Scott weeping over his editor who is leaving...She will be missed...After like twenty minutes of hugging her and saying goodbye we were off to dinner...like an hour later of saying "I don't know. What do you feel like eating?" we go down to ToGo's and have sandwiches...Ahhhhh...Food...It's only been eight hours since I last ate anything...It could have been crap on crackers and I would have eaten it...I felt like I was going to pass out waiting for the girl to make the thing...After eating we ran to Target for a frame to give to Lorena at her going away party...Got to the party...Too early...Off to Starbucks (Notice a theme?)...We sit on a park bench and drink our expensive swill...Off to the party again...Much hilarity ensues...Good party (For a pack of journalists)...Now home...Ahhhhh...Sitting still is nice...I will sleep now so I can do it again...Tomorrow.

What Famous Work of Art Are You?

As of today Scott and I have been together for 2 1/2 years! It seems like such a long time and yet just yesterday that first fateful night...We were at "The Inn"...Scott asked me to dance...Gammie was there (which looking back-it makes perfect sense)...After we were done dancing Gammie gave Scott some pointers (he was not holding me right while we were dancing-according to her!)...After he drove her back to her hotel he asked me out...That night...It was already almost two in the morning...But we went out on our first "date" anyway...I was smitten (I guess he was too!)...We have been together ever since. Sigh. Love. :)

Your Star Wars Name and Title

Your Star Wars Name: Becmy Tecon

Your Star Wars Title: Srevan of Mada Dna Ttocs

I may demand that you call me by this title from now on...It has a nice ring to it. Don't you agree?

Today was a bad day...well the morning sucked anyway.

Everything was fine this morning...Then I woke up.

I got to work late...A certain boy (I won't name names) was a cranky bottom this morning and did not want me to leave!

I clocked in 5 minutes late... As soon as I sat down the lady I work with started bitching at me about something very unimportant (EVERYTHING is important to her though). Then just as I really got going at a nice pace my phone rings and they ask me to come fill in at a different department...GRRRRR...SO off I go...Now I'm in the little glass "cage" at the front answering the phone and answering questions...Suddenly my eyes start watering and my nose starts running...bad! Now I look like I'm crying and my throat is closing up. I sit and wait...The pregnant girl that works this place finally comes back from her daily puke fest...I go back to my desk still puffy and red faced... So after an hour of slowly falling apart my right lung starts hurting like someone is stabbing me repeatedly!!! What the #%*& is going on?? I start asking around the office. (I even call Scott-He's a repoter, right? He should know everything. Ha! :)

The answer: They are doing construction in the building and I guess I am allergic to what ever was being released into the air!

Finally I went home with 45 minutes of my shift left. The HR lady sent me home because I couldn't stop sneezing and my right lung hurt so bad I couldn't take in a full breath! After a nap and some drugs (the legal kind) I got up and went for a walk. I'm better now but I'm dreading going back on Monday.

The good part of today was that I got to spend part of the day with Scott. And I found a very old (and very cheap) copy of a video game I used to love playing. So-I spent the rest of the day playing that!

Special Edition-Rendezvous!

I came across this web site by accident while clicking on a link from Katie's blog. It made me laugh so hard I had to post it-You must have your volume up for this one...Boy, Alaska must be one big musical!Rendezvous!

Stardate 07/13/2005 (Hope)

Today was a good day...All of the Department Managers were gone! That means...NO BOSSES!!!! They went to an all day meeting. It was great.

Now I am off to my first (of two) rehearsal tonight. It's 101 degrees and I have an hour long rehearsal in the park. I can't tell you how happy I am about this turn of the days events.

The good news for the day is that Scott had a sort of informal interview with a paper in Washington state that went really well. I guess he and the editor really hit it off over the phone...so...I'm crossing my fingers. His clips are great, he's a hard worker, a sweet guy and all of his co-workers love him! If this guy doesn't hire him, he'll be making a BIG mistake!
But then again, I am biased...Or am I? :)

In a Past Life...

You Were: A Happy Go Lucky Assassin.

Where You Lived: Central Africa.

How You Died: Buried alive.

What a great past life!

Today is nice. I slept...Well...Sort of...Scott had to be up at 8:30am which means....I was woke up at 8:30am...(Little known fact:Scott is incapable of being quiet in the mornings). After he left I gave up trying to go back to sleep and started laundry (Two weeks over due) and ate a large breakfast (which I NEVER do.) I have spent most of my day dealing with laundry and reading The Nanny Diaries. I love days off.

discover your dog breed @ quiz meme

Considering I would love to own one of these beautiful creatures someday...I'm pretty happy to be equated with one!

Today I had rehearsals allllllllll day.....I am tuckered out!

I did have time to squeeze in a movie though...The Jacket. It was good...not great. It had an interesting plot but it needed better development. Rent it if you are looking for light thrills and a little in the way of mystery.

Well-I think I'll be taking myself to bed now...Tomorrow is my first day to sleep in, in more than two weeks. I have been running on less than six hours of sleep per night for what seems forever...I fear I might sleep my day off away...Oh well.

Special Edition-Bookcrossing.com

I have just joined a great little book club/trader...Ummm...I'm not sure what to call it. I have mentioned all of my books before...Well...I don't read most books more than once...So...I have amassed an army of books that just sit collecting dust...

I have now found a way to make them useful once again...http://www.bookcrossing.com/ I will "make the world a library."

Please check it out. Think of all of those books staring at you from their shelves...begging...pleading with you to be allowed to live out their potential as...well...as a book.

I'm missing Muffet today. She could be helping me right now. Like she used to help Scott. Posted by Picasa

Stardate 07/06/2005 (Coming and Going)

I've been very busy the last few days...I forgot to post!!!

Lily's visit went well. We had fun and Scott and I managed to keep her alive and well for three whole days!

The Fourth was nice and (semi) quiet. I am proud to say I did nothing all day and did not see a single firework. There was, however, a fireworks stand less than a block away so I did hear a few (Ha!) go off.

So-I am now into rehearsals full swing! I had my second sword fighting lesson yesterday. That was fun. We rehearsed in the park and drew quite a crowd of little kids! Today was a production meeting and I signed my contract...which means...I found out how much I am getting paid! It's great to get paid for doing something you like to do. Plus-I have a lot of faith that these two productions will be wonderful!

No (real) word yet on the jobs Scott applied for. His editor did meet with two of the editors of papers Scott has applied to....They both wrote down his name and said that they would look him up. It's nice when your boss knows the guys in charge and gives you his recommendation! Cross your fingers for us....Maybe we'll be out of here by Christmas!!!!!!!!

Stardate 07/02/2005 (Sword Fighting Saturday)

Today was my first sword fighting rehearsal. My right hand can't even hold a glass of water right now!! My poor wrists have never been angrier with me. I have to do all of these weird wrist strengthening exercises.

This fight opens the play and sets the mood for the show. Gulp! No pressure, right? I think this is by far the coolest thing I have ever had to learn for a show. It was awesome!

Stardate 07/01/2005 (The Great Hair Disaster of '05)

The Fourth of July is almost upon us...What does that mean? Absolutely nothing to me. Well-Except that Scott and I get the day off together and a lot of annoying little children will be near my house with fire starting kits, oops, I mean "fireworks."

Lily is visiting us this weekend. Scott and I had our first sort of parenting moment today...He called me because he wanted me to come home (a whole hour early) from work to fix Lily's hair. I'm not joking. I tried to explain over the phone how to do this...what was seemingly a simple task...Ha! First I tried to explain "pig-tails." After a few minutes I realized that this was way beyond his capabilities. After several more minutes of him whining that he just could not "even begin to imagine" what I was talking about (I was telling him how to comb her hair and put it in a "pony-tail")...I resorted to telling him to put a baseball cap on her and leaving it until I was off of work...Too much to compute...I ended the conversation by saying he should never have children and left work 45 minutes early so I could take 30 seconds when I got home to brush her hair and put it into the "pig-tails" I had taken several minutes trying to explain to him earlier. Sigh. Men!

I guess before the great hair disaster they had fun though. In fact after Scott left for work Lily wanted to get him a present to cheer him up. She picked out a cowboy novel for him. I told her he liked cowboys and so she picked out a book with the "best looking cowboys" on it. Plus she liked the horses they were on. So then I took her to the paper and she gave Scott his present and met some of the staff. When we left she sighed real big and said that she wished that Scott didn't have to work so that they could play some more.

Lily likes Scott an awful lot. He seems to be at a loss most of the time as to what to say or do around her but he still manages to do pretty well. It's funny though. He acts like he's never been around children before. Umm...Doesn't he have a younger sister? I could have sworn he mentioned one-once or twice. Strange. :)

Anyway-One day down and we managed to keep her alive! Now we have to do it again tomorrow! It looks like this whole weekend will be an adventure. Wish us luck!
