Stardate 09/29/05 (Another Great Book)

I just finished reading a great book...The Lovely Bones. I bought it because Erin said that it was good and boy was she right. I read it in three days!

I highly recommend this book to everyone!! Read it!

"The Lovely Bones is luminous and astonishing, a novel that builds out of grief the most hopeful of stories. In the hands of a brilliant new writer, this story of the worst thing a family can face is transformed into a suspenseful and even funny novel about love, memory, joy, heaven, and healing."- http://www.readinggroupguides.com/guides3

Many thanks to Erin for suggesting that I buy it!

Oh-And look I finally figured out how to post my picture on my profile...well sort of...it's tiny...but hey I did it without any help!

Special Edition-Yummy Pot Roast!

Success! Posted by Picasa

Stardate 09/27/05 (Picture me here!)

I have made several attempts to photograph Everett in a way that would really show what it looks like. I've failed. Without a helicopter and expensive equipment, it is very hard to get good pictures of a city. So I stole several off of our city web site. I will post some of my own pictures later.

Today was boring. I had to go to an all day computer training class. I almost fell asleep several times and got in trouble for not paying attention. It reminded me of college!

Today I am making my first pot roast ever! Scott asked me what I put in it and at first I wouldn't tell him. So he got upset and whined "I don't want you to have secret recipes. I want us to have secrets together." I think he was afraid that I would use up all of the fun of cooking too! That's why I love him.

Stardate 09/26/05 (Hat Boy)

In honor of Erin and Amber's hat fashion show tradition Scott models some of the latest looks below:

Homeless bag-lady look. Posted by Picasa

Ok this is not really a hat-It's Erin's sweater and we are in Red Robin but this look was just too pretty not to share.

The sassy look. Posted by Picasa

Here's the prissy look. Posted by Picasa

Yesterday was a great day. Scott and I drove to a small town thirty minutes from here to have breakfast at a tiny road side cafe. Why? Because we're quirky that way. After breakfast we went to the huge outlet mall and looked at lots of things we can't afford (even at discount prices). Then we went grocery shopping-Which I love to do and Scott hates. Scott kept busy asking the butcher a million questions about one piece of beef while I shopped for everything else. After a short time at home (in which we stared at the boxes and thought about unpacking) we left for Seattle. We headed for the pier to have dinner with Erin(Scott's Poodlie Sister), Karen (Scott's stepmom) and Ralph (Scott's dad). We had lots of fun over dinner, watching the ferries coming and going and laughing at the most retarded things. It was a nice Sunday.

Stardate 09/21/05 (Guess who's back!)

Viva la couches! Posted by Picasa

We're really enjoying the place. It's so nice not to have to climb stairs and listen to the twenty football players rap music at 2am. We have a little front yard, a larger backyard, a carport, two bedrooms, one bath, a washer and dryer and all the quiet we can handle. I'm so excited about having a yard. I want to put out some bird feeders and plant some flowers in the spring! We also intend to decorate and do away with the post college look for good. I'll post pictures of our progress.

So now that we have all of our crap....WHERE ARE WE GOING TO PUT IT!!!!!! Posted by Picasa

Our stuff arrived (only 4 days late and $500 over the quoted price). The problem now is where to put it. The other problem is when do we have time to put it anywhere?? Now that we are both working full time the last thing we want to do is unpack after work. I suspect this is going to be a long drawn out process. Oh well-We're going to be here for a long while...so what's the rush?

I made it to Seattle (with only a few casualties-ie. the bug splattered in the pic). Posted by Picasa

I'll spare you the details of how I took this picture (I don't want to upset the Mommies that read this blog). I was so happy to see the skyline that I almost forgot to take a picture of this momentous occasion.

Seattle is really pretty. I was so excited to see it that I wanted to go out and do everything right away. I picked up Erin from work about ten minutes after I got to town. We went to the pier and had dinner at Red Robin. That was the extent of the sight seeing for the night. I was tired.
The next day I went exploring. That night I called Scott to tell him what I saw. He said, "Don't do everything before I get there. There won't be anything fun left." Yes folks... Scott was convinced I would use up all the fun of Seattle before he got here! So I didn't do anything "fun" for the rest of the week. ;)

Here I am waving a BIG goodbye to Cali! Posted by Picasa

I can't tell you how happy I was to take this picture. I almost had a accident trying to get to the sign. I forced my way over at the last minute and parked on the (very) narrow shoulder to wave goodbye. I had to keep taking pictuers over and over because I didn't want to wave as cars passed. They might think I needed help (or was a crazy girl waving at people on the highway for no apparent reason). The CRV snapped this picture between the passing of traffic (Little Bob got his hood in the picture).

It was such a beautiful day. I spent the whole trip on a roller coaster of emotions. I cried (out of relief of leaving Merced and out of regret for leaving my Mom and Lily). I laughed (really wildly and I think several people thought I might be insane). I sang (so loud that I had a sore throat the next day). I smiled (so much it hurt). It was one of the best moves I have ever had.

Special Update (Still here)

We're still waiting for our DSL to start! It takes forever. I'll be posting a couple of pics and stuff once it's up and going (middle of this week).

Our stuff came yesterday. Yay!! No more sleeping on the floor. The house is coming together nicely. Will post pics of that soon too!

I miss blogging. I'll be back in full force soon-I promise.

I miss my Mom and Lily too :(

Stardate 09/07/2005 (So many jobs, so little gas)

I had a great day today. I spent time searching for jobs online, faxing my resume and doing various other job searching activities.

I had lunch downtown, went to the pier and drove around (trying not to kill the people who seem to want to die by throwing themselves into the street on a no walk sign). I had fun at lunch because I sat at one of the big bus stops downtown and watched people. The best part was feeding the pidgeons. By the time my lunch was gone I had at least a hundred pidgeons fighting over my crumbs.

When I got back to Erin and Amber's we decided it was time for ice cream. So we walked down the hill, caught a bus (very exciting for me) and went downtown again. After filling ourselves at Cold Stone we shopped a bit (and tried on hats-See Erin's blog for pics) and went home.

Now I am ready for bed. I have several interviews set up for tomorrow. One of them looks very promising. Wish me luck. Yawn. G'Night.

(I miss Scott. He left Merced this afternoon. He'll be here in one day! We are going to pay our deposite on Friday! Yay! Well-Yay for a place to live not for paying the deposite.)

Stardate 09/07/2005 (Home Sweet Home)

I told Scott before I left that I would find us a nest the second day that I was here...And I DID!!! We can move in next Monday! It's a two bedroom, one bath duplex (with a washer and dryer). It's in a quiet neighborhood on the east side of Everett. I knew it was the place as soon as I drove up because a kitty came running out of nowhere and followed me to the door! Good omen!!

Now comes the hard part...finding a job!!!!!!!!!!! There are a million places here but will any of them want little ol' me??? I sure hope so.

Stardate 09/05/2005 (In Seattle)

I am now a resident of Washington state!!

My journey began on Saturday afternoon. After one last breakfast with Scott at IHOP (And a loooong cell phone buying errand) I was off. I was so relieved to leave Merced I cried as I waved to the city limits sign. I spent the rest of the day at my Mom's. Sunday morning I had a nice visit with my Mom, Lily and my grandparents. I left Elk Grove at noon. Eleven hours later I pulled into Portland. Scott's Mommy was kind enough to take me in and feed me. Today we had a lovely breakfast at Shari's. We also went to my favorite book store ever, Powell's. I crossed the border of Washington at 2:40pm. Two traffic jams(Ahh, in the city once again), a major accident (someone else- not me) and a million cops (giving out tickets) later I arrived in Seattle. It's very pretty (and cool) here. I met Erin outside the mall and we had dinner at Red Robin's down on the pier.

Now I'm sitting here at Erin's desk staring out the window at dusky skies and a mountainous panaramic view. Sigh. The only thing that could make this happier for me now is if Pookie was here. He will be soon enough. And in the meantime my job is to find us a place to roost. I begin my search tomorrow. But for now I will sit here and smile. It's been a long time since I could sit still, think about my life and the future, and smile. I like it. I think I'll do it more from now on.

Stardate 09/02/2005 (Goodbye California, Hello Washington)

Goodbye Merced!

I don't understand how this happened.

Help if you can....

Hope if you dare.
