Another fun adventure with Poodle Pez! Posted by Picasa

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy.
Edgar Bergen (1903 - 1978), (Charlie McCarthy)

What a weekend!

The fun started on Friday when I put in my two week notice. For those of you who have not already heard, I have BIG news! I am going to be putting in more hours at the theatre. In addition to being the House Manager I am now the Assistant to the Box Office Manager. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I fell very fortunate to have found my way into a theatre company so quickly. The BO Manager said it took her three years of looking to get the job she has now! Yes-I feel VERY lucky.

On Saturday Erin came for a visit. We had fun frolicking through the Alderwood Mall. Erin had a huge mission to accomplish. She needed fancy clothes for her auditions. The best part is that not only did we find the perfect outfit...we found it at the first store we went to! Check out Erin's blog for pictures of our shopping adventure.

Today was a lazy day. We drove Erin back to Seattle in the morning. She played, very poodle-ie, for us before we left. When we got back to Everett Scott and I decided to have breakfast at our favorite spot. It was, after all, only 1:30pm! We had eggs, hashbrowns, toast and LOTS of coffee...Yum. I know, I know...Not really good food for a diet but I worked hard at the gym this week!!! After we ate so much we could hardly move (well, I was fine really...It was the boy Pookie that was all sloshy) we came home to do-NOTHING!!!!! That's right-For the rest of the day we did absolutely nothing of any importance. It was lovely.

Now I am off to bed. Tomorrow begins the countdown to the end of the "stupid day job." I will miss the ladies I work with. I will not miss getting up at the crack of dawn, having three hours in the evening before I have to go to bed, only seeing Scott one day a week or filing. (God I hate filing!) Tonight I will dream of stacks of files on fire, phones that never ring, lunch breaks that last for 7 1/2 hours and paychecks so big that there isn't enough room for all of those zeroes.

Yawn-Good night.

Here it is...My "life path". It's me all summed up by another meaningless quiz.

Your Life Path Number is 4
Your Life Path Number is 4.
Your purpose in life is to build your vision.
You are practical and responsible. You work hard, knowing that there are no shortcuts in life. You work for a better life for yourself and those you love, but you are not an idealist.Trustworthy and honest, you also demonstrate great courage. People can count on you.
In love, you are a loyal and committed partner. You are the ideal spouse.
You don't give up easily, and sometimes you can be too stubborn and unwilling to change. You also can be too conservative at times. You sometime miss out on good opportunities. Also remember that not everyone can work as hard as you, as disappointing as that is!
What Is Your Life Path Number?

Goals #2 and #3: As some of you may know, I have a problem with finding the motivation to work out and diet. So I've decided to set some fitness goals to work for. I've combined my 2006 goals #2 and #3 in an effort to get in shape and have some fun!

First of all I found out that Discovery Health Channel has set up a National Body Challenge.

What is this you might ask? The Discovery Health Channel's National Body Challenge is a FREE eight-week, comprehensive fitness and weight-loss challenge that provides the tools and inspiration, online and on television, to get in shape, shed extra pounds and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Open to individuals, groups and families, the National Body Challenge offers the flexibility for participants to make the right choices to meet their personal nutrition and fitness goals.

FREE-As in no charge! Plus when you sign up you get a free membership to Bally Total Fitness for the 8 weeks the challenge is running!

The challenge ends on March 11th. The following day I am going to participate in my very first walk!

After this I will enroll full time at either Bally or Worlds Gym both of which are only a few miles from my house.

All of this will be leading up to the main attraction.

I have decided to try to enter the 3 Day (60 mile) walk to raise money for breast cancer research. This is a very hard walk to be part of. It requires a lot of fund raising. I don't know if I'll be able to do it this year. I'm going to do my best. I'll post more details after my orientation.

This is a really big deal for me. I've never taken on such a huge fitness goal. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

My strategy! Posted by Picasa

In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it. -Robert Heinlein

Every year I set 10 goals for myself.

The goals I attained in 2005 were:

#1- Get a Paying Job in Theatre- I worked as a paid actress (2 shows), a stipend high school Drama teacher, a paid Director (1 show), a paid Stage Manager and a paid House Manager.

#2- Move- I actually did this twice this last year! First we moved apartments in Merced and then states from CA to WA!! Yay for us!!!

#3- Give to Charity- I did this via Bookcrossing this year and I feel a bit guilty for it. It was so much fun!

#4- Perform on Stage- As I mentioned I had two paying gigs this last year! This is a big step up for me as I usually have to act for free. I played Belinda in Noises Off and Hippolyta in Midsummer Night's Dream.

#5- Lose Weight- I am listing this as a goal completed but I must confess I did not do very well at all this year. I really need to work on this some more!

#6- Travel to New Places- I discovered many new lands this last year including: The tide pools of Northern CA, Crater Lake, OR and the whole state of Washington!

#7- Be Happy- Yet another goal that I still need to work on. I am happier now than I have ever been and yet that is still not as happy as I want to be. I will continue my attempts to find happiness in everyday life. My journey is a long road from pessimist to optimist but I will press on.

As for #8, #9 and #10...Well, a girl can only do so much in one year.

Goals for 2006:

#1-Make the move from part-time to full-time job in theatre.

#2-Lose MORE weight...a lot more. (Massive diet time I think)

#3-Join a charity walk...I want to do a 2 or 5k charity walk this year.

#4- Travel (This should include a trip to CA=Mom & Lily, trip to Tx=Adam & Bridget+baby and various others and a major camping trip somewhere in WA)

#5- Begin writing the play that I have had running through my brain for at least five years!

#6- Find Jesus (just kidding)... Study paganism and join the G school.

#7- Learn a new skill (I was thinking of taking a class on jewelry making or knitting)

#8- Get health insurance. I have got to see a doctor soon. It's been a very long time which is not good for a girl with a chronic illness!

#9- Have a baby (the fuzzy kind...you know, of the kitty purrsuasion)

#10- Be happy. Like I said before this is a long term goal.

So there they are all written up and official like. No taking them back now! I guess I'll just have to go out there and get busy with my tasks. Sigh. This is going to be a busy year!
