Look what I woke up to this morning! It's been snowing off and on all day now and we have about 4 inches dusting everything. People are out making snowmen and throwing snowballs. I even saw a few kids sleding down the slopes near the highway. As much we may be impressed the wildlife on the other hand seems to be.....

a bit put out by this sudden storm.

This little guy was covered in snow when I first caught a glimpse of him sitting on a neighbor's fence. He came down to check me out leaving most of the snow behind. He still has a bit on his nose though. Too cute!

Anyway, Happy January 28th (aka Amazing Snow Day)!

I've just discovered a great web based charity. It's called Eco-Libris. For every dollar donated they plant 1 tree to replace the paper your favorite novels are made from. In exchange they send you a recycled sticker for each book you "balance out" to show your support for a great cause.
Check out Eco-Libris!

5 Whole Years!!

(really awful pictures of us from Year 4)

Yes, I know it's hard to believe but Scott and I have made it to our 5 year anniversary! I often wonder what it is that keeps us together? Why do we get along so well? I think you might be able to tell why just by looking at the pictures above. Even at our worst we still like each other best.

Milestones:
January 16, 2003- Scott asks me out on what becomes our first date (I also met his Grandmother that same night)
February 14, 2003- First road trip together (went to Portland)
March 2003- Scott has knee surgery (I take care of him for 2 weeks)
May 11, 2003- Scott takes me on my first hike ever to the top of Vernal Falls
mid-July 2003- First break up (for three hours)
mid-August 2003- Hike to the top of Yosemite Falls (4 miles straight up and the 4 miles down again-I loose four toenails)
October 31, 2003- We dress up as old folks
mid-November 2003-Second break up (45 minutes)

January 16, 2004- 1st year anniversary (Scott forgets to make reservations and we end up at Applebee’s after driving around for three hours looking for a place to eat that's not too busy)
Late-August 2004- Climb Half Dome (16 miles-had to hike the last 2 in the dark)
Mid-September 2004- We decide to move to Merced (we start living in sin)
October 31, 2004- I dress like a cat and Scott as Anikin Skywalker (I win a prize for my costume)
December 24, 2004-First Christmas together (the first year he went home to Portland and left me all alone :( )

January 16, 2005- 2nd anniversary (I made reservations for us)
January-May 2005- Long, sad, boring months of living in Merced
May 9, 2005- Car is stolen from apartment parking lot
May 10, 2005- Moved to new place (still in Merced)
August 22, 2005- Scott gets a job with The Herald
September 09, 2005- Moved to Washington State (Scott asks me not to use up all the Seattle fun before he gets here)
November 25, 2005- First Thanksgiving with Scott’s family (scary)
December 24, 2005- First Christmas with Scott’s family (very scary)

January 16, 2006- 3rd anniversary ( I took us out to a nice place-don’t ask about year 2)
February 12, 2006- First 5k together (Scott runs and I walk)
February 21-24, 2006- First vacation together
February-September 2006- Living the quiet life in the Pacific Northwest
September 18, 2006- Second vacation! (I know, two in one year?! That will never happen again!!)

January 16, 2007-4th anniversary (dinner and a depressing movie)
January 30, 2007- We got Kerwin!
February- May 2007- More quiet life type stuff
May 11, 2007- Scott gives me flowers for the first time!
May-December 2007- All’s quiet here in our little home

January 16, 2008- 5th anniversary (We’re both too sick to go out so our fancy dinner is going to have to wait a week. However, Scott was a very good boyfriend and took me out this last weekend to buy me a new fancy dress to wear to our fancy dinner. It only took him 5 years to figure out what makes me really happy…shopping and good food.) :)
